Yin Yoga Teacher Training
200hrs. Yin Yoga Teacher Training based on the teachings of Paul and Suzee Grilley, by Hellen van der Harten.
We would love to teach you how to become an excellent teacher in this beautiful practice yourself. Yin yoga is a passive, nourishing form of yoga, helping us to open up our heart, calming our nervous system, and providing a space for the body to deeply relax’. Yin yoga stretches and targets both the deep connective tissues and the fascia throughout the body. The aim is to increase circulation in the joints and improve flexibility. This is done by poses that stretch and exercise the bone and joint areas. It also helps us to regulate the body’s flow of energy.
Introduction to the Yin Yoga teacher training
“The backbone of the yin yoga teacher training is anatomy because without an understanding of muscles and joints true confidence in teaching is elusive. This anatomical insight is crucial when dealing with injuries, contraindications and the logic of adjustments and variations. Anatomy is a vast subject but the basics, properly understood, clarifies and simplifies all yoga practice, regardless of style.” ~ Paul Grilley

Fleur (student 2017) ~ “Being a student again was nice, but studying yoga philosophy, anatomy, asanas and much more was beyond nice! It was an incredible journey with some real life changing results. Every weekend was like a mini retreat; studying together with other like minded people, gaining insights on yourself and learning all ins and outs about yin yoga. It was the best present that I could ever give myself and it’s worth every cent and second! At the end of the training I went home with my certificate, a backpack full of knowledge and last but not least; self confidence and self love. If you’re doubting about wether or not you should join this training, I would definately recommend a big YES to you. There’s nothing to lose, but so much to gain!”
Jennifer (student 2018) “When I attended the introduction workshop for the Yin TT I did not expect to make the decision then and there that I would do my YIN TT with Hellen van der Harten. I still had other schools on my list to check out. But during the workshop the calmness and ease Hellen had and the reassurance she gave that you don’t have to be super flexible to be a good Yin Yoga teacher made it a simple decision for me. During the months that followed it was a valuable learning experience on many levels. I admire Hellens patience and expertise in explaining vital topics such as anatomy, her encouragement to keep exploring and feeling your unique body in several ways and the space I believe we all had to express and be ourselves. In addition there is a great side effect of making new friends. This all and more ultimately leading to the confidence I feel to teach a safe and enjoyable Yin Yoga class, making this a wonderful ongoing journey.”
Vanessa (Student 2016) “Looking for a Yin Yoga teacher training? Look no further as you have the best training right here in front of you. Why? In my experience over the last months, this training offers the best combination of up to date foundational knowledge of Anatomy as well as Yin Asanas. There is a lot of emphasis on putting knowledge into practice in a fun and practical way. ‘You practice what you teach.’ Also, very important, Hellen is extremely knowledgeable, excellent teacher and very diligent and as if that wasn’t enough, she has a great sense of humor and is very down to earth. Under her expert guidance you are sure to get the best quality in the most effective way.“
Christine (student 2017) “A great teacher training, where Hellen takes you by the hand and shares all her (considerable!) knowledge of yin yoga with you. You start with the postures and anatomy en slowly deeper layers are added, layers of the emotional en energetic body. These 10 months really give you the time and opportunity to experience yin yoga and the beautifull things it can bring. You learn to deepen your own practice and how to safely teach others. Stefanie, The Yin Yoga Teacher Training with Hellen provided the foundation for one of the best, most transformative years of my life. I gained a new appreciation for the human body and learned to notice the subtle differences in my own body, thanks to Hellen’s deep knowledge of anatomy and passion for yoga teaching. Through Hellen’s yoga and meditation classes, I felt a great sense of peace. If you are thinking of doing a teacher training, you are in the best of hands with Hellen.”

Hellen van der Harten
“My life as an independent filmmaker and mother of two children was quite hectic. Very yang-like. I used to do a lot of gymnastics to keep in shape. When I discovered Yoga it felt like coming home. The deep meditative and relaxing effects of yoga and specially yin yoga balanced my life so well. I love to share the experience and practice with others.
Over 20 years ago I started with Pilates. A few years later I discovered yoga. It was love at first ‘practice’.
After all these years of practice and more then 1300 hours of training with great teachers all over the world, I lead my own Yin Teacher Training Program (since 2015), many classes and workshops in and around Amsterdam.” ~Hellen van der Harten
