Is a Yoga Teacher Training Right for You?

Have you ever found yourself lying in Savasana after class, wondering what it would be like to dive even deeper into yoga?

Maybe you’ve felt a quiet calling to understand more than just the poses. Craving a deeper connection to the philosophy, the breathwork, the mindfulness behind the movement. Or perhaps you’ve caught yourself daydreaming about guiding others through the same practice that has brought you so much clarity and strength. If any of this sounds familiar, you might be standing at the edge of a truly transformative journey: a yoga teacher training.

But let’s be clear: Joining a teacher training doesn’t mean you have to become a yoga teacher. For many, it’s simply a path to self-discovery and deep personal growth. In this article, we’ll explore the signs that you might be ready to take this step. From diving into yoga theory and elevating your personal practice, to understanding the unexpected emotional shifts and personal growth that happen along the way, we’ll cover it all. Elevate your personal practice

Whether you’ve been practicing for years or just a few months, a teacher training has a way of lighting a fire under your personal practice. With consistent daily movement, meditation, and pranayama (breathwork), you’ll experience rapid growth—both physically and mentally. Your mat becomes your mirror, and what you learn about yourself is just as powerful as any alignment cue.

Share your love for yoga with others

There’s something magical about sharing what lights you up. Teacher training equips you not only with knowledge, but with the confidence and voice to guide others through their own yoga journey. You don’t have to be the most advanced yogi to teach—you just need a sincere passion for the practice and a desire to hold space for others.

Personal Growth during a yoga teacher training

Beyond the asana, a training is a deeply personal and often emotional experience. It challenges your mindset, reveals your patterns, and teaches you how to stay centered in the face of discomfort. Many trainees say they leave not only with a teaching certificate, but with a renewed sense of purpose and connection to themselves.

Additional topics that supplement your yoga practice

All Tula yoga teacher trainings are holistic in nature. Besides all the asanas, philosophy and yoga history you’ll explore anatomy, injury prevention, mindfulness, ethics, and even voice training or how to create playlists. These tools enrich not just your teaching skills, but how you move through daily life with intention and awareness.

Your age doesn't matter

Think you’re too old to join a yoga teacher training? Or too young? Think again.
The Tula teacher trainings are filled with people of all ages and backgrounds, each bringing their own unique flavor to the experience. Yoga doesn’t discriminate.
If you have the desire to learn and grow, your age is irrelevant. In fact, diversity in age brings beautiful perspective to the group dynamic.

Can I beginner become a yoga teacher?

Absolutely. You don’t need to be able to do a handstand or know every Sanskrit term to begin. What matters most is your commitment and curiosity. The Tula teacher trainings welcome beginners who are dedicated to learning and showing up with an open heart. Every seasoned teacher once stood where you are now. Wondering if they were ready.
It does help if you have joined classes before and are familiar with most of the poses. This especially helps during the practices in the training. The information you receive during the training is more easily absorbed when you know what the poses are already.

Do I have to become a yoga teacher after joining a yoga teacher training?

Definitely not! Almost halve of the participants in a Tula yoga teacher training sign up to enrich their own yoga journey. Not to teach. It’s completely up to you.
However, we should warn you. Of those who didn’t sign up to become a yoga teacher more than halve loved it so much, that they decided at the end of the training to start sharing their practice with others anyways.

Still unsure? That’s okay.

Where to start to join a yoga teacher training?

If you want to sign up for your first yoga teacher training we advice to start with a 200-hours teacher training. These trainings provide the strongest foundation for your yoga journey.
If you think a 200-hours is a bit too much, we created multiple foundational yoga trainings as well. These are shorter and already prepare you for the bigger trainings.

For every 200-hour yoga teacher training we organize information sessions, which are helpful to learn more about the trainings and get familiar with Tula and the teachers.
